Manuscript Checker Agent

The manuscript came back after eleven days. Not because of the methodology, but because of the word count.

A formal rejection costs eleven days and yields not a single insight into the content.

The target journal's guidelines are four pages long and spread across four places: word limits, mandatory sections, reference style and declarations. They get worked through the evening before submission, usually by the person who wrote the text. The editor finds whatever is missed, and the process starts again.

34requirementsThat is how many individual rules a journal's author guidelines contain.
62referencesEvery single one has to be right on format, completeness and style.
11daysThat is how long a formal rejection takes before anyone even hears about it.
1personThe evening before submission, they check a text they wrote themselves.

If the 34 requirements and all 62 references are checked before submission, the problem is caught in-house and the eleven days disappear.

The numbers of requirements and references describe a typical original article checked against a specialist journal's guidelines. The eleven days are a common turnaround time, not a measured value.

Three steps through the process.

The agent checks the form against the guidelines and backs every issue with the exact wording; it does not judge argument or methodology.

Break the guidelines down into requirements

The agent reads the target journal's author guidelines and breaks them down into individual, checkable requirements. For each one it records the section and the wording.

34 requirements captured, Vancouver reference style, AI policy included

Check length and references

The agent counts the length with code and checks every reference individually for format, completeness and consistency. A sample is not enough here.

4,812 words against a limit of 4,500, 62 references checked, 3 incomplete

Present the review report with corrections

The agent presents a report: critical blockers first, then the checklist with status, location and suggested correction. The authors make the corrections and submit.

What the agent does not do.

It does not assess the content.

Argument, methodology and writing style remain a matter for the authors and the reviewers.

It does not invent requirements.

It only checks what is in the guidelines. If the guidelines say nothing on a point, it lists that point as not checkable.

It does not recommend another journal.

It checks against the guidelines it has been given. The authors choose the journal.

The questions that come up before the first meeting.

How quickly is the Manuscript Checker Agent ready to use?

A pilot is typically up and running within 2 to 4 weeks. All it needs is the manuscript and the target journal's author guidelines; there is no rule set to build first.

Where is the data processed?

EU cloud, private cloud or on-premises. Processing is GDPR-compliant and models are never trained on your data. Unpublished manuscripts never leave your environment. Details in the Trust Center.

Where does the figure “100% of requirements checked” come from?

It describes the scope of the agent's checks, not a time saving: every requirement in the guidelines and every reference is checked, not a selection. A pilot on your own manuscripts shows how many issues are typical for you.
