Seven reports become one sheet, and the explanation follows later by phone.

Each facility produces its monthly report in its own system and sends it to controlling as a spreadsheet. There the sheets are aligned, and items renamed, re-sorted and totalled. For every item that stands out, controlling phones the facility, because no explanation comes with the figures.

7facilitiesEach delivers its monthly report in its own format.
7alignmentsItems are renamed and re-sorted before anything can be totalled.
11items that stand outThat is how many lines in the consolidated sheet need explaining.
11call-backsEvery line means a call to the facility, and the answer ends up in an email.

The seven alignments and eleven call-backs are no longer needed, because each of the 24 items carries the seven individual values, cutting reporting effort by up to 70%.

Up to 70% is this agent's headline figure. Seven facilities and eleven lines needing explanation reflect a typical monthly close across a group; they were not counted.

Three steps through the process.

The agent consolidates the facilities' reports into one sheet and comments on every variance with its derivation; controlling assesses the result.

Collect the facilities' reports

The agent reads in the monthly reports from the connected systems and maps the items to a common schema. It lists items without a match separately.

Close 04/2026, 7 facilities read in, 3 items without a match

Consolidate the figures into one sheet

The agent totals each item across all facilities and shows the previous month and the plan alongside. Every line can be expanded down to the individual facility.

One sheet with 24 items, 7 individual values behind each line

Comment on every line that stands out

For every variance, the agent states which facility and which item account for it. Assessment and external commentary stay with controlling.

11 variances commented on; largest single item: non-staff costs at Haus Nord

What the agent does not do.

It does not explain the cause of a variance.

It shows which facility and which item account for the variance. Why it arose is for controlling to clarify with the facility head.

It does not sign off the close.

It presents the consolidated sheet with comments. The head of controlling signs off.

It only works with what has been posted.

A provision not yet posted at the reporting date is missing from its sheet. It marks the affected item as provisional.

The questions that come up before the first meeting.

How quickly is the Monthly Close Agent ready to use?

A pilot typically runs on your own data within 4 to 6 weeks. The agent connects to your existing systems rather than running as a separate, parallel environment.

Where is the data processed?

EU cloud, private cloud or on-premises. Processing is GDPR-compliant and models are never trained on your data. Details in the Trust Center.

Where does the figure “up to 70% less reporting effort” come from?

It is based on experience from comparable projects and process benchmarks, not a commitment. We work out the realistic effect for your organisation during the assessment before the pilot.
