Deduction Review Agent

Every deduction ground sounds like a fixed rule. Whether it is one can only be pieced together from scattered judgments.

Checks every deduction ground against the relevant case law, evidenced, item by item.

Seven deduction grounds in one letter mean seven separate pieces of research.

The insurer gives a reason for every deduction, usually in half a sentence. Transfer costs, blend painting, hourly labour rate: there is case law on every keyword, and it is rarely in the same place. The research falls to whoever has time, and in the next case the same search starts from scratch.

25 minutesper piece of researchSearching, reading and weighing up whether the reference supports the objection.
3 hoursper letterSeven grounds at 25 minutes each fill half a working day before the first sentence is written.

Seven 25-minute searches are no longer needed; that is what the 55% less review effort stands for. The reading and weighing up still happen.

The 55% reduction in checking effort is the headline figure the data set gives for this agent. The number of deduction grounds, sources and minutes per search describe a typical routine in a law firm's claims department; nothing was counted here.

Three steps through the process.

The lawyer decides whether to object to a deduction; for each item the agent presents the supporting and the opposing references with an assessment.

Extract the deduction grounds from the letter

The agent breaks the settlement letter down into individual grounds and identifies the subject of each one. It lists half-sentences with no discernible ground separately.

File VK-3390/26, 7 deductions with a named ground, 2 half-sentences listed separately

Match the case law to each ground

For each ground, the agent finds the judgments that support the facts and notes court, date and case number. It lists opposing judgments too.

Reference list, 14 judgments on 7 grounds, 3 of them opposing

Submit the assessment per item for signature

For every item, the agent writes which reference supports the deduction and which goes against it. The assessment goes to the signing lawyer with all references.

stellungnahme_vk-3390-26.pdf, 7 items with 2 references each

What the agent does not do.

It does not decide whether to challenge the deduction.

It presents references and an assessment per item. What goes into the brief is signed off by the lawyer.

It does not replace reading the reference.

For every statement it names court, date and case number so the judgment can be checked in full text. Whether it fits the case is for the case handler to settle.

Where three judgments point the other way, it does not say which is the prevailing view.

It sets both lines side by side with court, date and reference. The signing lawyer chooses which of them the response on VK-3390/26 relies on.

The questions that come up before the first meeting.

How quickly is the Deduction Review Agent ready to use?

A pilot typically runs on your own data within 4 to 6 weeks. The agent connects to your existing systems rather than running as a separate, parallel environment.

Where is the data processed?

EU cloud, private cloud or on-premises. Processing is GDPR-compliant and models are never trained on your data. Details in the Trust Center.

Where does the figure “55% less review effort” come from?

It is based on experience from comparable projects and process benchmarks, not a commitment. We work out the realistic effect for your organisation during the assessment before the pilot.
